Do you or someone you know have trouble getting good sleep? Insomnia is when one has trouble falling asleep or staying asleep for extended periods of time.

Insomnia is much more common than you'd think. According to "The Good Body,"

As significant as quality sleep is, it's clearly not something that everyone is getting-even though our bodies require it to be healthy. Sleep is essential for numerous aspects of a healthy body. In a study performed by the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, it was found that CBD increased sleep duration. There was a large case series performed to test the relationship between cannabidiol and anxiety & sleep. Scoring for subjects was based on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, which is a self sleep report with a one month duration. Some of the criteria were sleep quality, time taken falling asleep, and sleep duration among others. Results from the subjects found that overall sleep scores improved rapidly. 

CBD has worked for many as an alternative to traditional sleep aids like ambien and klonopin- all without any of the negative side effects commonly associated to these pharmaceuticals. 

Michael Breus, PhD, wrote a highly informational article with Huff Post titled "The Ultimate Guide to CBD and Sleep." In it, he outlines the relationships and potential impacts CBD has been shown to have with a variety of different ailments. He stated that "CBD has the ability to reduce anxiety, which can be helpful in reducing sleep difficulties and improving sleep quality. CBD may increase overall sleep amounts, and improve insomnia, according to research. CBD has been shown to reduce insomnia in people who suffer from chronic pain" (Breus 2017).
